The organization of the
Chamber of Commerce Aruba

The day to day activities of the Chamber are
supervised by its Board of Directors. This Board consists of nine members,
of whom five members represent businesses with an invested capital of Afl.
100,000 or more (large businesses), and four members represent small
businesses.
Aruban residents of Dutch nationality elect the board
members, and to
be eligible prospective board members must appear in the Commercial
Register as either owner, partner, director, or general proxy for at least
one year preceding the compilation of the voters’ register. Eligibility
for a board position is restricted to those persons who are 25 years and
older, possess the Dutch nationality and have been a resident of Aruba for
at least two years immediately preceding their candidacy. The members take
seat for three years. Yearly three members resign by rotation and are
re-eligible at once. The members moreover may resign at any time, as a
consequence of which by-elections must be held.
From the Chamber’s building at J.E. Irausquin Boulevard 10,
Oranjestad the daily operations of the Chamber are headed by an Executive
Director. The Executive Director is delegated by the Board of Directors to
handle the execution of Chamber policy and the handling of all Chamber
activities. The operations comprise the following departments: the
Registers, Business Information and Support, the Secretariat and the
Financial Administration staffed by 14 full-time employees including the
Executive Director.
